BLS and BLS Cargo, hand in hand

BLS Cargo works very closely with BLS AG. As an example, BLS Cargo operates a joint locomotive and driver pool with BLS and shares the purchase of overhead services. All services are jointly planned, agreed in Service Level Agreements and accounted for.

BLS AG has consciously decided against dividing its train operating staff between freight and passenger traffic. Dealing with the huge increase in BLS Group’s traffic has shown, in both freight and passenger traffic, that the joint model offers many advantages. Peaks in demand can be better covered and reserve planning is much simpler. Working in both freight and passenger traffic also provides our employees with greater variety and hence more job satisfaction. We are glad to be able to count on very flexible colleagues who are open to new approaches and can be deployed on a variety of tasks.

Close cooperation with DB Schenker AG

Our working relationship with our shareholder DB Schenker Rail Deutschland AG takes the form mainly of joint cross-border operating models. For these, we plan our resources (locomotives and drivers) and make the necessary investment together. In the commercial sector both partners benefit from one another, because new products are generally planned and implemented together.

Italian competence with IMT AG

IMT AG, which is 100% owned by our customer Ambrogio Trasporti based in Gallarate, has a shareholding in BLS Cargo. Ambrogio Trasporti was quick to entrust its transport requirements to BLS and was therefore one of our earliest customers. Today, BLS Cargo benefits substantially from the specialist expertise of the Ambrogio Group in combined transport.
